Having recently returned from China I felt I needed to write to you to share some of the experiences of this latest visit. In the seventeen years I have been visiting China I have met many people who have shared some wonderful testimonies with me. This latest visit was once again a special time. Nobody has given us gifts like this before
Can I have fifty thousand copies? Another of our contacts said, “The ten thousand books you gave me are just not enough. Can I have fifty thousand copies of ‘Following Jesus’?” We want to do this and hope to give him fifty thousand in the next month or so. Another contact said, “Please can I have fifty thousand copies of your new book ‘Marriage Garden of Hundreds of Flavours’ (‘Marriage Masala’ - title in English version)?” Again, we would love to supply this contact with these books. I can print two hundred thousand each month
Before my visit to China I was wrestling
with the Lord as to how many books we should target to print
next year. I felt that maybe we should set the target at one
million books again, as we have done for the last few years. The
Lord seemed to be telling me more but I was struggling with
that, knowing that the price of paper was going up. After my
visit and after meeting these people who are so desperate to
receive these books I had to go back to the Lord and say He was
right (as always). We are therefore hoping to print 1.5 million
books next year. This is a big increase, but after praying about
this and seeing the need, we feel it is right to try to print
that many books. We need your help To do this we need your help. Could I plead with you on behalf of our brothers and sisters in China? We urgently require finance to print the books so desperately needed. Can you help? Anything you could give would be a big help to us in trying to meet the requests we receive. When I make my next visit to China and I meet the people in the village who were so moved by receiving our books, I want to be able to say to them, “As we meet, people overseas are raising funds to enable us to print more books for you.” If you can help us meet these great needs please send your gift to the address of your local base which you can find here. My
colleague and I met with our Chinese co-worker and one of our
printers. The printer shared a story with us that was so moving.
She said that she had sent one box of our books to a village
some seven hours away from where they had been printed. Some
days later she received a phone call from one of the villagers.
This villager was sobbing uncontrollably down the phone. In
between sobs she said “Nobody has ever given us gifts like this
before. Even if these books were available to buy we couldn’t
afford to buy them as we are so poor. Any money we have we buy
food with it. We would like to meet the people who have given us
these books so that we can say thank you. We are embroidering
gifts for them as our way of saying thank you.” This was such a
moving testimony and brought a lump to our throats. Sadly they
can’t meet the people who have supplied these books as these
people are you, our supporters; however it is our intention to
visit these people on your behalf and to take more books to
them. Our printer is now targeting rural villages to send books
to, so that the people who do not have money can still get
teaching books to teach them more about the Lord Jesus. 
One
of our printers said to us: “I can print two hundred thousand
books each month for you.” How we would love to give him orders
for those books, but sadly it all comes down to the fact that we
can only print the number of books that we have money for.
